PCI Express Nvidia Card SLI question?

Presently I have a 8800 GTX MSI video card with 768 MB Ram and I am looking to purchase and SLI a second one together. I have noticed lately that there are no 8800 GTX 768MB video cards to be found. If I do find any, the prices are sky high.

Does the 2nd video card that I would like to SLI together have to be the same model, I already know it can be a different vendor.

This card was a pretty penny and I would hate to just toss it aside and have to purchase 2 new ones. Any Ideas??
