Don't mind what they say, I say go with the Abit KR7A-133, its amazing.
Abit are top notch quality, and if you go with this idea of waiting, you'll always be waiting, "well i can wait and go with the kt333 when it comes out" then it comes out, "well, i can wait for the kt666 to come out"...
The kt266 chipset is amazing, i say go with the abit. If you are anything like me, you want it NOW
Its definetely a better board then the epox 8kha+

If you are anything like me, you want it NOW | I appreciate your "wanting it now" sentiment. I have a friend or two who spend hours researching for "the mobo" or "the X or Y component" and for years respond to my inquiry: "Did you get that mobo or other X or Y component?" Response: "Nah, I'm gonna wait 6 months ... there's supposed to be a better one coming out."
Man, in the meantime, enjoy! My philosophy.

I've read on other forums that first version chipsets from VIA do not usually work well. They usually need 2 tries to get it right. This person said that the KT266 and the KT266A are examples of this.
One of the things I've leared is that there will always be better components. If we keep waiting for better things, we will never end up getting it.

"Significant--but not Important."
One of the things you learn is Statistics is that differences can be "statistically significant"--but not "important".
When I read some of these benchmarking tesks--which like all standardized tests --are done under reduction conditions devised by the testor and delimited by the available tests-- I am amazed how far-reaching "editor's choice" etc. are assigned to Mobo's et al for differences so close that aren't really anything to write home about.
Yes, someone's got to be "the best"--but even assuming the perfect integrity and objectivity of the reviewers-- sometimes it really is "all in the eye of the beholder".
The good part of all this is that you have a choice of several good Mobo's and maybe the feeling that whichever one you chose--you "can't go wrong".
Hey, not a bad feeling !

P.S. I like to treat computer stuff like medicines--it's always better to go with what's "out there" for awhile than wait for the "newest , hottest" which may surface with problems in the real world-- and the earliest consumers are often the "lucky Pierres" to to have these visited upon them.
I look at the mobo, vid card etc. to be released in three weeks as beta and , hey!, there is a lot of good stuff out thhere already. The only reason for waiting is that the price of the "older" one might drop a small amount.
My advice is to go with whatever "does it for you" or strikes a respondant chord. If you really liked the feature set of the "slower" board, well that tells you something. Proven competence and user satisfaction would seem more important than chasing the bright , elusive butterfly of "best."

wait a month or so for the KT333/A chipsets. the KT333 chipsets are already out so hang tight for the KT333/A chipsets.
| And keep waiting, anything you buy right now will be second rate in a month, that's my feelings, although the one you want today will dramaticlly drop in price when the new model comes out. Just something to think about

From what's been said so far: If you want something that is more or less tried and true, and not near obsolete, I'd go for a KT266A based board. I use the Epox 8KHA+ myself, and love it. Runs fast and is easy to set up. All the kinks seem to be worked out.
If I could have my pick of the KT266A litter now, I'd go for the Abit KR7A. Because I've owned Abits in the past, and they're always among, if not the top performers.
That Soltek board recommended above is also highly rated, so it's worth considering, too.
The KT333 boards do look like they're going to be kicka$$, but you're always taking a chance jumping on the latest thing to hit the market.
My advice is to buy what, according to your homework, appears to be the best board that fits your needs (both current and desired upgrades), your budget, and your timeline (aka do you want or need it now).
Hope that's cryptic enough for you.
Best of luck!

Well I didn’t expect all the replies; I went home yesterday and when I left there where like 3 replies.
Well I know like most of you said if I wait and wait then something new will come out. It's not like I must have the stuff right now but I don’t really want to wait another month or two or three either and there will always be something new &
Pretty much anything I get at this moment will be better then the setup I have now....
PII 233
96mb memory
8gig HD
Sound Blaster Live Xgamer
TNT 2 Ultra 32mb Video Card
and Skywalker[TSG] where did you get the purple soltek from?? I went to the website http://www.soltek.com.tw/English/product/75drv2.htm and it says coming soon.
Well with all the replies it seems as though I am still contemplating what to do. Go ahead and get a mobo now, or wait and get a better one in another month or so. There are alot good points to think about.., wait because the price will drop, wait because the new one is better, get it now so you can enjoy it now, there will always be something new and better.
Why must there be so many. I suppose either way I win something new is something better in my case.
