NV4_disp loop

Well something I never had a problem with, finally popped up. BSOD!

I have been using home computers for... *counts on her fingers then toes*

omg 20 years?

*hangs head realizing she REALLY is old*

I got my first ever BSOD and it came from from a nv4_disp loop and on a brand new build even.

After painstaking days of trying to figure out its cause it appears to be the 8800 gtx. I have done everything I can think of to fix it, even reflashing the card (with Vigor's permission of course) and I still BSOD on 3d graphics of any sort.

I started to search boards reguarding this issue and wow, I am so not alone.
We decided it was my card because the idle temp with the case open wasn't getting below 74c and I have some pretty nice airflow in this coolmaster stacker and its extremely roomy (full load my cpu and case temp has never gotten higher than 34c)

From my research that nv4_disp loop can be caused by so many things its tricky to pinpoint it and I had no spare vcard to throw in there since I donated my previous 3.4 intel system already besides the old comp had an agp card (yes I gave it away free )

Anyway vigor is sending out a new 8800 gtx tomorrow (04-16-07) and I was wondering whats a decent card to buy real fast to toss on to a P5n32-E sli board to run some tests with that is relatively inexpensive?

Any help from you peeps would be greatly appreciated.

*side note, yes I cleaned the display drivers and tried several versions and have the latest bios and the mem tested fine
