Water in my Laptop

Hello.

I spilled water cup in my notebook and i can not turn my computer on now. It has been 3 days already on this.

I also tried hair dryer and stopped it when i realized that it started to damage couple of keys.

I bought the warranty from Frys. Can someone tell me what to tell them so that this can be covered under this warranty?

Thanks.
RC

Blow the dust out very well with a can of compressed air, this is to get the undoubtedly drowned looking dust out. Tell them it stopped working and you want it repaired under warranty. End of story. Accept no comments or questions, make no suggestions. And make sure there's not a drop of water left in it. P.S. - if it was some fluid other than water it will probably leave a residue in which case you're screwed.

I did the same... I was told that they are going to run diagnostic tests and they will let me know within 3 days.

Also, they mentioned that if this is due to liquid ( which i denied ), then this is not covered under warranty.

I guess i will have to wait.

Thanks for your suggestion.

I had the same problem with a lap top from Circuit City and they refuse to repair the computer. I paid $320.00 for a four year warranty and I feel like I have been treated very badly. I wish I could find some way to get Circuit City to do what is right and repair my computer. Any suggestions

I don't know the number but you can try calling corporate or regional headquarters and explaining your situation and asking very nicely if there is any possible way they could fix your computer or at least give you a reduced rate on the repair.

A warranty is parts and labor. Accident coverage is a very different thing joanbsmith. If the warranty was sold to you as accident coverage I would call corporate and complain to them about how it was sold to you under false pretenses and you may get someone who will help you out! On the other hand the agreement is parts and labor and they are under absolutely no obligation to cover accidental damage. There is a completely separate option for accidental damage protection!

Great point. Dell offers "Complete Care" which covers spills and such. It's usually an extra hundred or so but if this happens, they'll fix the laptop or send you another one, often upgraded if your model is not available. I always pay extra for this coverage.
