Sims Strategies??
I'm not much of a gamer. The only games I really play are Resident Evil games for the PS and PS2.
But, I have The Sims. I reallllllly liked it at first, but now it just seems like a bore. I can't get my lazy people to get up and do anything. I try and keep them fed, bathed, proper sleep, etc, but they still manage to screw up!! Then, they lose their jobs and basically become a living waste. Then they yell at me that they want games. Well you can't have games if you don't go to work and make any stinking money!!! (RANT - See how mad this game makes me???!?!)
What am I doing wrong? Can anyone give me any strategy tips, or how in the world can I spice up my game? (and no, I do not want to drown them all in the pool by taking away the ladder) |

Start off with just 1 person, first of all. Then it's easy to build yourself up and make a bunch of money. Two people is easy too. Just always keep an eye on the meters and try to keep the bars as much green as you can. Yeah, it's such simple advice, it sounds almost dumb just to say it. But the game is so much more fun and easier when your sims are happy. TV and chess are great when doing it as a group activity because it takes care of social, fun, and comfort at the same time. And with chess, it builds up your skills.
Another tip is to build up all your skills at least 1 or 2 marks, because it hardly takes any time and will improve their lives quite a bit. Like, cooking for instance. The food you eat will hold you over longer if you have cooking skills. And you won't hurt yourself or start fires nearly as easily.
If you're getting bored with it, but you like it, you might want to try the expansions. Hot Date adds a lot of really great stuff to the game. You get a whole downtown that you can build, and lots of new interactions and stuff. I just bought all the expansions and the game is a lot more fun and interesting. Soon The Sims Vacation will be out! And The Sims Online by mid year.
Woohooo!

i say start with two people
have one work, have the other stay home and make friends
as soon as you get promoted do what you need to do to advance, better body and whatnot
when you have around 4 friends, make the other one get a job, then you have two incomes
they will usually not go to work unless you make them, so most times cancel their other plans and click the car for them to go to work - they wont be happy but they will go unless they are asleep or swimming
o and make sure you have something like a little flower bed outside... a drop from green room to red because of outside being plain will wreck their mood
same with trash in the house.. a maid in a small house is very affordable, you dont need a gardener unless you have a ton of plants though

Build a room, make the people really lazy, let them move in then remove the door. Speed up time and watch them die (or not if you're squeemish). Once they're dead, put a door back in and move some more people in. You'll have ghosts. Have fun. They don't call me fatal for nothing.

Go here for some really good tips and tricks for the sims: www.thesims.com
- then click on "about the sims" on the left navigation bar
- then scroll halfway down & click on "tips & tricks"
I'd just give you a link, but it's inside frames.

I'll have to admit when I started reading the reviews and articles about the game, I thought it was really cool and wanted to try it. But now, all the stuff the 1st writer was saying seems to make the game sound like a lot of work. Maybe I'll skip this one.

It seems like a lot and can get kind of hairy with multiple people. I love building the houses and putting in flower beds and trees in the yard though. You really have to give the game a shot it has some cool things to do.
