ACPI 0xA5 BSOD Error

hey everybody,

I was trying to back up some files from my main comp to an HDD that I have, and it resulted in an that BSOD described in the title.

The original config:
P4 Northwood 2.4GHz @533 on GA8IE800
main HDD (primary master) WD800JB
second HDD (primary slave) WD600BB
2 optical drives (on IDE 2 channel)
WinXP Pro (no SP2)

What I did was unplug the optical drives and connected an old Maxtor 20Gb (5400rpm) drive as Secondary Master. On boot, it POSTed, verified DMI pool data, and then gave the BSOD with the parameters:
-------------------------------
STOP: 0x000000A5
The bios in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated bios. If you are unable to obtain an updated bios or the latest bios supplied by your vendor is not ACPI compliant, you can turn off ACPI mode during text mode setup. To do this, simply press the F7 key when you are prompted to install storage drivers. The system will not notify you that the F7 key was pressed--it will silently disable ACPI and allow you to continue your installation.
------------------------------------
I read all the MSDN support logs on this error, and tried the following things:

-clear CMOS (several times, up to 10 minutes off)
-tried BIOS ACPI setting S1(POS) and S3(STR)
-tried to boot with only the main HDD w/o any other IDE devices
-tried Safe Mode, Fail Safe Defaults, Optimized Defaults

[the Maxtor HDD was disconnected and left to sit on the desk after the 1st BSOD, since it appears to be the original cause of the problem]

All those things in all combination yielded no result - it still gives the exact same error at the exact same time.

I realize that the Maxtor drive screwed somerthing up in the BIOS, but how do I fix it?

any help would be greatly appreciated,
thank you.

Problem solved (disconnected all components for 2 hours, and reconnected them all back)

Admins, please delete this thread.
