Need help with installing a D-Link PCI adapter

Hi, i am a newbie and may sound dumb for asking this but i DESPERATELY need to know how to install this so that i can transfer songs to my x-box and do karaoke (yeah im a little weird)
So i bought a D-Link PCI adapter for ethernet. i inserted the adapter (model number: DFE-528TX) and it isnt installing properly. i have windows XP and once i boot the computer up it doesnt even aoutomatically detect it....so then i go through the wizard to install it and it does but then it says it may not work because it cant start......HELP PLEASE.

Thanks for reading this and i hope i can be singing my karaoke soon

Shut the computer down and move the card to another slot, sounds like its not seated correctly. Make sure it is pushed in solid and good and even, if not it could short and that would cause the very symptoms you are seeing.
