DVD Drive Problems

On one of my desktops, whenever I iinsert a CD or DVD, the computer still 'sees' the old disc. I have to re-boot and begin again. A real pain.
I think the problem is with XP rather than the drive. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Have you tried ejecting the disc by right-clicking on the drive icon and then choosing "Eject", rather than pushing the button on the drive?

No, but I'llsure give it a try. Always pushed the button on the drive itself...
