Error message

After downloading and trying to run a program, I get the following error message........

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item "

I am running Windows XP Home Edition

Can someone please enlighten me as to why this is happening as I have checked all over the net and can't find a reasonable explaination or resolution?

I believe it to be a virus or something, but I would greatly appreciate any help in this.

Thanks

sounds like you are not running on an admin account, which means some things may be blocked from your access [like installing programs]

my 2 cents...

I am logged on as an admin automatically every startup. I am the only one who uses the computer.

This is a pretty difficult problem to figure out. Basically, the error message means that Windows is looking for a file because it's been told to run this file at startup. But the file isn't where Windows expects it to be.

The reason it's difficult to figure out is because we can't tell WHAT file Windows is looking for.
