Heat an issue?

I have a older dell laptop inspiron 7500 running xp. It will boot and run for about 5 mins and then lock up. I restart it, the POST shows up and then locks up. Over and Over. If i let it sit for about a half hour it will run for 5 mins and then lock up again. Is something getting warm or has it just died on me? I have to diff ram chips in it, and i tried running it with just one or the other and does the same thing.

This may sound like a silly experiment but it might give you the answer. If you have a floor/table fan, put it really close to the computer and use it to keep the computer cool. If the laptop still freezes after 5 min, then it's not a heat issue.
