cant get into setup
I am a computer tech, former store owner, have troubleshot and built thousands of computers. But I am finally stumped!!!
I have a Dell optiplex gx110 with the micromini case...very small only 3-3/4" x 12-1/4 x 14.
3 months ago i installed windows xp and other software on it, and worked great. I put it aside, and it sat for 3 months.
Now...i cannot get into setup (f2). When it starts, i get the one beep, and screen says "Alert!..previous attempts failed at checkpoint [vini], or [krst], [xint], [aux], cumn, vmgr, and others., then says contact dell tech support.
It is not under warranty, so tech support wont help. I printed out several pages, and did learn about different codes the little light on the motherboard shows, but the light stays green all the time and dont change to any of the other error colors.
I have tried EVERYTHING. Putting disk in floppy drive, or cd in cd drive, taking everything out and only connecting the vga. It always says same thing.
After turn on and beep it instantly goes to the same Previous attempts failed, etc.
Oddly, one time out of about 30 attempts i did get the setup screen, but computer was locked up.
There is only one jumper on motherboard for password. Oh yes, i have also taken out the battery.
On motherboard is DS/N MX-036xmt-12411-085-9nue c/o mx.
Sticker on box says Model #: DCP. Processor is GA370, p3/667/133/1.65v...and yes i have tried several good ram stix both pc100 and pc133.
HELP PLEASE ..you guys are the brightest of the bright, HELP!!! Thank u very much, Bill
