computer restart

I recently load the sims game. Loading was no problem but when ever I tried to run the game the computer would automatically close down and restart this happened with another game as well...the other programs run fine..Strange problem and I need some help tks

Sorry should have added the following info earlier.. OS is wind 98. Cpu is 750mhz...The Sims program and one other, whose name I cant remember at the moment, are the only two programs that cause the premature restart. The reset of the software works fine. I previously installed a new hard drive, video card. It has 256 ram...I thought maybe it was a bad SIMS cd so I exchanged it for another with same problem. Loads fine but when you try to run it the computer restarts every time..I thought maybe the cdrom drive was intermitten so I installed a new one with same results. I have ran all sorts of test and cannot find anything wrong...Checkd the EA web site for possible solutions but apparently no one else has encountered this problem...REALLY appreciate your help..

Hi, some thoughts:

Does your computer system meet the Sims [and other affected] game compatibility requirements? This information will be listed on the package and on the game manufacturer's website.

Is your system having heating issues?

Update graphics drivers? Or, perhaps rollback drivers if new ones are causing problems?

No heat problems the computer more than meets specs for Sims game..Graphic card is ATI with 100mg vdm...It is a head scratcher..They must be a connection between the restart and starting the game. I was looking for someway to turn off the restart mode but couldnt find anything...Could there be something to the reading of the cd on the cdrom drive....it is a new drive..maybe reduce how much it reads at a time? Thanks
