Boot Problem

Hello there...

I have a problem w/ my pc... during boot up system will suddenly freeze on the screen that says "System Configuration.... :" where all devices are show... the screen before the black windows xp screen. it would take abour 2-3 minutes for it to continue. i tried swapping Cables and isolating the Primary HD removing all IDE device. still nothing changed... freeze... what is wrong w/ my system? I'm currently running a P4 1.7 GHz w/ an ECS P4VXASD2 MB. I hope there is a solution to my porblem... w/o spending alot of money... thanks in advance!

perhaps as a first, you can try reseting your CMOS. there is a little battery on your mainboard [looks like a watch battery], take it out for 1 minute and put it back [while the comp is unplugged of course],

does it display any specific messages or beep any different than normal?
