laptop memory problem

I have a dell inspiron 4100 with the intel p3 866 processor. the current memory config is 2x64 pc133 infineon memory. i bought a peice of 128mb pc133 samsung memory stick but the bios tells me either the stick is bad or unsupported. i bought it on ebay so i don't know if the stick is still good or bad. does anyone have any idea on how i can test the memory. thank you

If you have a friendly, local computer store nearby, see if they won't give it a quick freebie diagnostics test on their professional testing equipment. If you've checked that the slot and stick themselves are clean and undamaged, you could try one or both of these longtime software testers:

MEMtest

Sisoft Sandra

Please RTM to ensure full compatibility with your system before testing.

Do you've contacted dell"s engineers to solve the problem?
