xp pro corp

Hi,could someone tell me wether or not xp pro corp ed. lets you use windows updates if u are using it from a home comp? The reason I am asking is that recently I ran windows update on another comp with xp home and it asked me to download a verification tool, I did so and was told it is not an authentic version, so now it will not let me do any more updates? would the same happen with xp pro corp?

I have Windows XP Professional VLK (Corp) and I can update fine because I got my VLK through my work. If you have a illegal key or an unissused Microsoft CD-Key, then it will say invalid.

About the computer with XP Home, why did it fail verification? It is probably someone installed it and cracked it using AntiWPA or a similar tool. If it was pre-loaded on your PC, then contact your reseller and demand a legal version of Windows XP.

XP updates

Non-validated (for what ever reason, no prejudging here) XP copies are still able to receive automatic security updates thru
MS. They want to crack down but not at the expense of the entire world. Leaky security on one system puts everyone at risk so they didn't shut that part off. Just set it for automatic updates and it still gets all the bug fixes. You can no longer get Media Player updates, Beta-ware, etc. You only get the "push updates" as you cannot go thru the manual updates with out verification.

The verification requirement is new [in the last month or so]. You can download security patches but not updates if you fail the verification.
Read here for some info on this:
