Outlook Express 6 port 110 Win98

Windows 98 SE. Can search the net but can't logon to Secure pages. Outlook Express won't check email either. Port 110 being used??? Ran ad-aware, spybot, and anti virus. Not norton or mcafee. Should i reinstall Win98? I tried reinstalling IE and Outlook but it says it can't find the files on the 98 CD.

From my understanding of your post, if a 'secure' page requires a logon and you haven't the proper credentials to access the page, you won't be able to access it - that's not a flaw but security permissions implemented by the page's site owner/webmaster.

Re port 110 being used, are you running an antivirus program for email?

If you're trying to reinstall IE and O/OE from a CD and cannot, your media may be scratched and/or your CD-/DVD-ROM may be broken/old/damaged..

If you're still having a problem, reply with more error details so your problem is better understood, or let us know if you resolved it and how.

It ended up being a verizon dsl problem. Apparently they changed the password for the account. When i called them they changed it again and ended up making it worse. Once they reset the account everything work.

If you are using pop mail go gmail

Gmail can be used everywhere home/work, and is easy to set up.
