Talk RAM-4 chip vs 8 chip & sgl side vrs dbl

i asked this question months ago and not much reply...have customer amd athlon/900 that uses pc133 at 128 mb single side 4 chips, but wont take pc133 at 512 mb with 8 chips on two sides. the 512 is his and he wants the total 512 and 128 ram for 540 ram. when he returns the 512, exactly what should he ask for??? or should he use pc100...im not a ram guy and i lost my notes..please help and email me at my main addy billniceguy20@hotmail.com...thanks lots any info re this confusing ram stuff appreciated...tnx, bill

Bill,

Lots of the older AMD and Intel chipsets have problems recognizing dual-sided RAM. If you google the mainboard in question you can probably find some detailed info online including the type of RAM it supports, and in which configurations.

As far as I know, it's impossible to force these older boards to recognize both sides of dual-density RAM, so a 512mb stick would show up as 256 if it works at all: (
