another bad file

hello, I was searching for ways to get rid of this file I downloaded and I came across this website, I tried everything everyone has said and it still won't delete, the file cannot be moved either. I have never come across a file of this nature before, I even tried it in safe mode, and tried quarantining it but it says it doesn't exist. Is there any other way?

Welcome to TechIMO.
We need some info to help you and help us know how to solve you problem.

What OS are you running?
What is the name of the file?
What folder is it located in?

I am running windows xp pro, and it says its a preview of the audio file "shattersphere gravity if you like linkin park metallica drowning pool disturbed cold staind" It is in the incomplete folder in my documents. it is where limewire puts files that havent finished yet or that I stopped downloading, but it won't delete like all the others.. and when I right click on it the only options are to play, open, add to, and send to, which is really weird. If it were a virus you'd think mcaffee would pick it up but it didn't. do you know anything?
thanx
Janelle

Have you tried deleting it from the command prompt? This proceedure requires knowing how to use the DOS commands to navigate thru the folder chain and then try deleting the file using the delete command. If you don't know how to do this, I could give you a short tutorial that could help you.
Let me know,

Try renaming it, then delete it, the filename is too long.

The file won't be renamed, like I said its not a normal file, and I would like to know how to do the DOS commands because that could be helpful in a lot of other ways too, fortunately I know a good amount about computers, so that would be nice if you could help me!! thank-you!

DOS Commands

Open Command Prompt
Make sure it says:

C:\Documents and Settings\(your user name)>_

then type

dir then hit enter

and see if you see the Incomplete folder. If so type:

cd Incomplete then hit enter

then type del then the file name and hit enter.

del (file name that cannot be deleted)

I FORGOT THAT THE FILE NAME IT'S LONG SO YOU HAVE TO GO TO PROPERTIES OF THE FILE AND SEE WHAT IS THE DOS NAME FOR THAT FILE AND USE THAT NAME AFTER THE DEL COMMAND.

If won't delete try it this same way in safe mode, also you must be using the windows account that you have lime wire or use limewire on.
