Printer trouble

I get a error that reads " A communication error had occurred. Check all cables.."

It happens most when I leave the computor on stand by for a while. Then I try to print I get the error. To get the printer to work again by pulling the power plug . I dont know why but it clears the error. But when I do that it cleans the printer ink cartrage hence using ink so it then becomes a cost factor.

What model/brand is your printer, and your computer OS?
