My on-board video went out on my pc. Can I install a pci video card with out any video signal to my monitor to install the new drivers? Is the motherboard going to have these drivers? Or is the O.S. going to have them. It's running Win 2000. Thanks.

When you install the PCI video card, that should become the default and override the onboard. You may have to enable "VGA Mode" depending on your OS.

You should then be able to load the drivers via Wndows because it will show the screen. You'll have to load the drivers provided on a CD or downloaded from the web.

Why are you using your onboard video. Your computer will go a lot faster if you use an AGP card. If you don't have an AGP slot, you should get a computer with preferably PCI-E or at least an AGP slot. If you need any help just post.
However, if you don't play 3d intesive games, your onboard is fine, but even if you're considering it, get a new motherboard.

This motherboard is an old model and doesn't have an AGP slot. The computer is just used to tinker around with, and go on the internet. Thanks for the reply.

That's a good plan to keep an older computer on the net and another off. That way, you can only lose the files there and not important ones, like some people do.
