laptop sound issue

I have an acer laptop (travelmate 4000). I like it, but the sound is too quiet to hear when I play movies on a plane or in the car.

Any way to make it louder?

Thank you

My HP is like that, I just have a pair of headphones I leave in the bag . Probably the best for the people around you as well.

well, the rule of thumb is that the smaller the headphones, the less power they require for amplification. of course this is not necessarily the sace, and is based on the impedance of the drivers int he headphones/earbuds.

your laptop speakers are definitely going to fight to be heard over the sound of the road under your feet or the jet engines of an air plane. however, amplified/noise reducing headphones on battery power will provide more than adequate sound out of the headphone jack, but you might be hard pressed to find anythign better than standard run of the mill headphones that will provide audible sound fromt he jack. high quality earbuds might get you the best bang for your buck.
