Kids installed new vid. card, and all screwed up

I installed a NVIDIA G force 5200 video card on my emachine
and now when i play my games then about 5 min. later my computer restarts. An error report keeps saying something
about C:\mini dump\mini031005-03.dmp,and C:\DOCUME~1\
Owner~1\locals~\temp\WER.tmp.dir 01\system data.xml
But this only happens when im playing games

It's a emachine W2785 thats running Windows xp home edition.

Sounds like its getting to hot, first guess. Check your fans for dust and what not and case for ventilation.

What was in the rig before, video card wise?

You also mention its an e-machine. The power supplies that ship with those are just barely able to power the components that ship in it, let alone a new vid card. You might want to look into getting a better power supply (PSU). Thats second guess and probably the correct one.

If you're looking for a new PSU, I strongly recommend that you get one from a highly reputable company, such as Antec or PC-Power and Cooling. I would recommend a wattage factor of no less than 350 watts, but I would get more wattage now so you don't have to buy another down the road. And, if you're going to rebuild the system, I would recommend that you get the Antec Neopower 480 or the PC Power And Cooling 510 watts, because they support the ATX 2.0 spec; in other words, they support PCI-Express.
