First time building a PC... need some help.

I bought this case:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...147-010&depa=1

and this Motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...185-045&depa=1

and a 3.2 Prescott cpu.

This is my first time putting together a PC like this. The case and mobo arrived today. The case came with a bunch of screws... and the mobo came with a manual on how to connect everythign to the mobo. My problem is I don't know what to do with all the screws and prongs and plastic things that came with the case. The holes inside the case, where the mobo goes, are label by letters and numbers.... but there is no diagram that tell me what screw or whatever goes in what hole.

Also, if you check the pictures... the mobo I/O ports don't match the I/O panel on the case. However, the I/O panel on the case is removeable... so maybe I can get a panel that matches my mobo? Where? Also, if you check the mobo pictures.. it come with this flimsy metal bracket thing that I guess fits over the I/O ports... or is that a I/O panel I can use on my case? They're both ATX from... so I it should work somehow.

I have this all spread across and table and I don't know where to begin. Yipes!

Anyway, if you have an experiecne building PCs and can help me out a bit... I'd appreciate it a bunch!

Thanks!!

Didn't your board come with an I/O plate?
If not remove the I/O plate from the case and assemble it without the I/O plate. Or maybe someone here has the correct plate.

The motherboard you bought is retail & it shows an I/O plate - send it back to newegg, you should have received everything shown in the pictures

That flimsy thing is your I/O shield, it serves the purpose.

Easiest way to line uo the mobo holes witht he case is to set the mobo in the case and visually see which holes line up, then see which screws fit in the standoffs then put the standoffs in the case, put in the mobo and screw it in.

If there are any raised metal places in the case that will be under the mobo after installation, you would be advised to cover them with electrical tape, just in case.

You will most likely not need all the screws that came with it, there are always extras.

Any other questions, post them, someone can help.

Yes, i looked.

The shields that come with or in the case seldom match anymore, thats why the motherboard ships with the flimsy one that I mentioned. The one in the case will have a way to take it out and you press the other one in.

If the motherboard did not ship with one, that would be cause for concern. The picture of the motherboard shows one, however. And it does match up with the I/O ports on the mobo.
