Computer won't boot up, need some assistance here!
Okay, my comp has been acting screwy here lately. When I press the button to turn it on, after it powers up it restarts itself (after 1 second or so). When it restarts it promptly begins to beep a few times with pauses before more beeping. After that, nothing happens. I can't access CMOS or setup settings at all, all i can do is turn the comp off and try again, just to get the same instance. Sometimes, it will start up, but not after having to try about 20 times, but now it refuses to do anything but restart and beep. Thought the harddrive might be the problem so I tried to replace it, got the same problems. I switched around RAM and replaced RAM, but no change. I checked all power connections and other connections, but none had problems. The CD-ROm and Floppy Drive both still work (ie. have power, open/close, etc) , but I can't get it to do anything. I cant even get it to run System Disks or startup disks. I'm left to believe that it's a BIOS problem or that the motherboard is messed up elsewhere. Anyone out there ever who has ever resolved similar issues before, I would greatly appreciate some input. HEELP!

First of all what motherboard is it your using, second have you got the manual for it.
What you need to do is check the manual for the post codes relating to the beeps your getting this usualy tells you whats wrong this sounds like you have ruled out most of the components you could have issues with, but what I'd do next would be an ESD (disconnet everything from the base unit including power then hold the power button for about a min) don't laugh somtimes it works, now reconnect the power only! and turn on> if it doesn't have the same post code connect the monitor and test again, then keep connecting devices till a problem occures.
another thing you might want to look for in the manual is for a key that forces defaults in the bios at boot this can be handy if the issue is with the battery.

It seems to me that your BIOS is bad, since you can't access it. However, since it beeps it is probably a hardware problem. The power supply is probably good, since it boots up and supplies power, but I wouldn't rule it out completely. If you know someone with the same CPU type that works, try swapping it. Also, I would try to replace the board, if the CPU doesn't work. However, if you're going to replace the board, get it from Asus. I have a computer repairman friend who said, "I've never had one fail on me." Also, your videocard is probably good, since there isa display.

like INTEGRALE69 said, reset your CMOS settings to default. usually it is a jumper close to the battery. it has 3 pins with the jumper sitting on 2 of them. just pull the jumper off the 2 pins, and move it over one pin so it jumps the middle pin with the pin that had been by itself, then put the jumper back to where it was at the beginning. don't leave the jumper on the reset pins or else it definitely will not boot.
if you can't figure it out, make sure the power supply is unplugged and then pull the battery out, wait about 5 minutes (to be on the safe side) and then put it back in, plug the power supply in and see if it boots. we are curious to see what happens then.

Comp wont bootup
Hi,
i hada agree with INTEGRALE69, POST beep codes tells you what sort of hardware error/failure youre facing, anyway you didnt say if anything came up in the monitor as you tried to boot the system, long intervals beep code might resemble a failing RAM, where short ones might tell youre having a failing graphic card..i think whatever the beeps are, with green LED on the monitor and nothing appears says you got a bad VGA card, orange/yellow LED shows a failed RAM. Try swapping either with a new one might chance a good boot..
Hope this helps..
goodluck.

more technical info is required
You need to give some more technicial information, not only of yer quipment...but also what you have observed in using the computer and maybe the last thing that was changed before the system went down.

What specific beeps do you get (i.e. 2 short beeps, 1 long beep 1 short beep, ect)? What type of bios or motherboard do you have?
