Systems Problem installing video card on intel 82810 integrated graphics processor

I have a hp xt921 and recently bought a GeForce 5500 oc video card and it tells me to disable my onboard graphics proccessor but i cant do it and the onboard processor keeps overriding the new video card. My computer recognizes the video card and i have the drivers all installed but its just overriden by the onboard one. I need help badly.

Refer to your manual and HP support for assistance.

If you cannot disable the onboard video or make your new add-in card the primary video device, then it's simply not going to work in a satisfactory manner.

Be careful as I'm not an expert. But when you boot up your system, can't you hit delete to enter your setup program and disable the onboard video? I would think you would enable VGA support or AGP support accordingly, save settings and exit.
I would think the software drivers and video card bios would over-ride any onboard/ bios/ maybe not......
All I can say is you may want to read other threads to find other info.

"IMPORTANT" I say be extremly careful because if you change some settings incorrectly, when you reboot you may get a blank screen. Then you'll have to clear ya cmos yada yada yada.
good luck

Agreed, you will have to get into the BIOS somehow. On HP's its usually a little trickier, try hitting ESC, worked on the older ones. That would give you the option of what to boot from or entering setup.
