Make sure you've got the analog audio cable connected to the sound card/motherboard.

Make sure you don't have "Digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device" enabled in Device Manager. (Right-click the CD-ROM device and click on Properties. Click the Properties tab to see the tick box.)

the audio cable is hooked up.

The audio cable is hooked up. It plays all other cds and other cds I've recorded with the same cd writer in my other computer. I now have one cd rom and one cd writer hooked up. When I make a new cd there appears to be traks but no sound coming out. I have the two cd roms on a completely different IDE cable and the cd writer is in the master and the cd rom in the slave. Is my cd writer shot now?? or wrong driver?? My other computer is only a pentium 2.33. with win 98. The one I use now is a Intel celeron 1.3ghz. with windows 2000 advanced server. I'm a e-commerce systems services developer. I never learned hardware. Thanks again and for your response.

When you burn a CD, are you using the CD-ROM as the source drive? Some drives are unable to extract digital audio from CD's. They can play the CD, but only in analog mode, through the sound card.

Use the CD writer as the source and destination drive.

I realize that both drives can read CD's. Copying audio CD's (or tracks) from one drive to another is a little different.

If you're using the CD-ROM as the source, and the CD writer as the destination, the CD-ROM may be sending nothing but digital silence to the burner. It may be incapable of extracting the DIGITAL audio information that the burner needs.

I never record from a cd only from my own music archive, so the songs all have sound to them.

I had a problem like that too. Some of my music was burned as MP3s, and other CDs were burned as "audio CD?"

Using Nero Epxress
