Problem with VGA driver on new system

Building a very nice AMD64 system with the following:
ECS 755-A2 (1.0) mobo
AMD64 3000+ CPU
2X80GB SATA drive in a RAID 0
1 GB PC3200 RAM
Nothing is overclocked
Win XP Pro
DirectX 9.0
Chaintech 128MB Geforce MX4000 AGP 8X

Problem:
Whenever I install the video drivers the system goes to the splash screen, stalls, then restarts. I ahve tried two of these boards and even gone backward to a TNT64 card. System runs fine until I load the dedicated NVidia driver. Works fine with the generic Win XP drivers but always craps out after loading NVidia drivers direct from their site.

I have tried every BIOS combination possible and nothing helps. I f I go into safe mode and kill the Nvidia driver it comes back on and requests the VGA driver. I have gone to ECS and downloaded the latest mobo AGP driver also.

I am losing my mind!!! This should not be happening! Help me!!!!!

UPdate

Really funny now...my ATI 9800 Pro card works perfectly. Still cannot get any GeForce card to work. Cards work in other systems however.
