Norton Personal Firewall disconnects internet explorer

Activated internet explorer icon and got a message from Norton Personal Firewall saying that internet explorer is trying to access the internet and wether I should allow it. I do not usually get this message when I activate internet explorer and decided to deny access. The message appeared about 3 times and I denied access. Norton Firewall said also that it was safe to allow access to IE. Subsequently when I try to get IE browser I get a black and white page saying 'the page cannot be displayed'. I checked Nortons Personal Firewall, Internet Access Control and it says Microsoft Internet Explorer has status 'Permit All'.
How can I restore Microsoft Internet Access. Using win 2000Pro and IE version 6.0.

I

I had that problem and I also saw that internet explorer had status of 'Permit All" but it didn't go online just "the page cannot
be displayed" appeared but when I disabled norton it would work so i knew the norton program was not working properly and I uninstalled it then I installed it again and it would work but later it will happen again so what i did is when i was installing the norton program i chose the thing where it says that you do not want parental accounts and i have never had the problem again.

Personally I wouldn't waste time or money anymore on Nortons, I had three versions of it and always had probs with it. Even virurses still got through, I now use AVG and Sygate Personal Firewall, they are great programs and dont use up a 10th of what Nortons uses. AVG has grabbed everything that has ever come my way and Sygate is a great firewall as well, with that I use Adaware SE and Spyware Doctor for cleaning up and I get no problems anymore at all, if something comes my way it gets stopped, so why pay for Nortons when it doesn;t do anything better?.

Have a great day.

I'm with yahwhoon. I would get either Sygate or Zone Alarm[both have free versions] and pitch Norton. Both of these firewalls are highly rated. I've been using AVG anti virus on one of my machines and it does an excellent job [also free].
