Laptop Help

Hi all,

I have a IBM Thinkpad laptop, running windows 2000,

Now this morning i was using my laptop to check my emails, i had no new emails so asked a colleague to shut it down, now 5 mins ago i thought i'd check for emails again, but it's not switching on.

When i plug the mains in the battery light is on, when i press the power button the HD light and battery light both flicker then the batt light comes back on and the HD light goes off, and nothing happens on the laptop, no beeps no screen nothing.

Anyone have any ideas??

There is a switch or sensor that detects when the laptop is closed.

It sounds like the switch may be stuck down, preventing the laptop from powering up.

Does your laptop shut down when the cover is closed?
