no video / no boot up

Hi all here's a good one for ya's:

- Processor= AMD Duron 1600
- Mobo= AZ30-TL
- 256 DDRam ( Kingston )
- GeForce2 MX Video Card ( In AGP Slot ) ( also has on board video don't no if it works or not )
- 30 gig Hdd
- cd-rom drive
- cd/rw drive
-3.5" floppy

I bought this computer at a Flea Market for $ 25.00 with no problems.

Yesterday i changed the cd rom drive out with a dvd rom drive ( so i can burn dvd's ) .

After the changing them out now i don't have video and no bios post beep. During the change out i was wearing a ground strap to ground ( static control ) like i do when repairing cb radio's. I have cleared the cmos and have put the cd rom drive back in and nothing. I have searched the web to find nothing that helps. I have also tried to use the boot disk but when the lights come on on the cd rom and cd / rw drives the light on the floppy doesn't.

Any help that anyone can give would be great. If you need more if on the mobo feel free to ask i found a web site that i downloaded the manual from.

Have you tried it again w/o the drive?

Could be bad or have a cd in it that the computer is trying to boot from. Ive gone through that before. Hard to figure out.

I would suggest a systematic removal and test of every componant.i e remove everthing except PSU, ram, Vid and Cpu , then remove the vid , to see if you get a beep code (o yah make sure you have a pc speaker plugged in) if nothing , then the ram if still nothing the CPU and if still nothing switch the PSU out to see if it is bad , still no post it may be your mobo. Also make sure you set the jumpers correctly on the hdd and cdroms ,slace master ect.Check to make sure all connections are tight and fully plugged in .Also maybe take a peek behind your mobo to make sure there isn't a screw shorting your board.

Hope this helps and cheers

If you cleared the CMOS, the onboard video is probably enabled now. There may be a conflict with the installed AGP card.

Remove the AGP graphics card, the CD, DVD, and floppy just to see if the onboard video comes up during boot. If the video comes up, everything else should fall into place.

Remember to double check the power supply and cable connections.

Almost forgot!

Check the CPU fan's power cable, make sure that it is plugged in securely. If the system detects a dead CPU fan, it will shut down almost instantly, to avoid frying the processor.
