Laptop - TV ??

I have a Toshiba satellite 1800 Laptop and rca cord for plugging from my laptop into my TV, how do I do this.

I plug it into the laptop, then into the yellow outlet (video) of the red yellow white plugs, pushed "fn" and held it down and pressed f5 and my screen goes black, but nothing on the tv. Do I need to put the tv into video or channel 3 or 4 or anything like that?

you need to turn your TV onto your VIDEO channel. I know I just press the TV/VIDEO button on mine but yours is different

in case you cant find it out... all you have to do is keep changing the chanel until you see your desktop!
