Hd showing smaller size

I was trying to prepare my Hd to format and re-install win xp pro using one of the utilities from seagate like I always do, the utility is call disk wizard.
By mistake trying to make a partition I click in something that made my hard drive smaller, now is only 33000mb (33gb) instead of the 80000mb (80GB).
I saw in the bios and say 33gb also when I start the win install say 33gb.
I tried everything to restore it using this utility from seagate by I can not do it.
I had this Hd for long time and it always show me the real size until now that I played with.
Would you please help me with this?.
Thank you beforehand for your help and time

You can boot the pc with a Windows boot floppy and run fdisk.
Select enable large disk support, then remove existing partition, then create a new partition using all available space
or
Use the disk wizard to write zeroes to the drive and start over.

You didnt try to jumper it differant by any chance, did you?

If you jumper it as a master and put the jumper on the wrong end it actually limits the drive capacity to 32 GB. Master is farthest from the power plug, not next to it.

Just a thought.

Hi, I resolved my problem, I just played with disc wizard fot about 30min and I do not know how but I fix it.
Before this I tried with the win 98 boot but it could'nt do it, then I tried with a win me boot disk and the same thing.
That's why I tried the original tool that messed up my hd.
About writting zeros I thought about it but I was not sure it will fix it .
Anyway Thank you all for your help and time.
