My compter running windows xp pro will only boot whit a windows setup cd in the bay or a windows xp boot disk in the floppy drive.

I allready tried to copy boot.ini, ntdetect.com and ntldr to the hard drive, but i get an access denied error while coping ntdetect.com and ntldr.

when you boot with the cd, do you get into windows, or can you not boot to your windows desktop at all?

ah yeah, sounds like for whatever reason BIOS wouldn't boot from your hard drive. wierd, i've had that problem before too after BIOS updates and pulled my hair out. turns out i had to reset the BIOS with the actual CMOS jumper on the board to get it to work. always gotta be the simple things
