ATAPI Driver needed

I need drivers for my ATAPI CD-RW 52XMax
where can i find them?

In general, you don't need specific drivers for ATA devices.

What operating system do you have?

Windows XP Home.

My problem started after i reformated my comuter. When I try to burn a cd i get messages like:

"A medium error occurred.
A Power Calibration Area error has occurred."

mabey drivers arnt even the problem. but then what is?

Maybe you were referring to "aspi" drivers? This used to be quite a problem with cd burners but not so much anymore.

ok i found out the problem isnt the drivers

however i still get
"A medium error occurred.
A Power Calibration Area error has occurred."
errors.

anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Have you tried different media & slower burn speed ?

yes no luck. one thing i noticed was that my burning programs have only been showing 1,2,3,or 4 speed when before they went up to 52x and i have tried a couple different brand cd-rs and i keep getting the error.

This may be too simplistic, but have you tried re-installing your CD burning software? Are you using the same software you had before the reformat?

What is the computer make in question and what is "reformatted"? Do you mean you restored it?

Have to ask. Is the drive new or used? Did it come with the computer or added after? What is the burning software in question?

the computer is a compaq presario 5000. the drive was new when i got it but it didnt come with my computer, yes i restored it.
the burning software is Sony CD Architest 5.0 and Nero 6. i dont have the original burning software that came with the burner but both programs worked fine before i restored.
