you might want to check all of those programs to see if you enabled a setting for "security" reasons that deletes all of your cookies every time you shut down windows. it is also possible that you inadvertantly changed the setting in windows with another utility, or in windows itself (windows 2000 or xp pro's group policy editor, for example).

retrace your steps, and if you can't figure out where you made the change, let us know what version of windows you have so we can give you some more suggestions.

Cookies Problem

Hi all,

I so hope someone can help with this problem,

Whenever i switch my PC on in the morning all my cookies have been deleted and i end up having to sign back into all my forums/ebay etc.

Anyone know what's causing this?? i'm using norton internet security 2004, have run adaware and run housecall virus checker to no avail.

Please help

Hi Johnny,

I checked Norton (although i'm not extremely clued up on how to use it) but couldn't see a 'delete cookies on shut down' not sure how to check windows programs

I'm using windows XP Pro SP1

Thanks

PS - Just noticed when i went into IE - Tools - Internet Options - Temp Internet Files - Settings, my cookies are being saved to c:\documents and settings\user\local settings\temp internet files.

Just tried going to the folder and it's not there, on opening c:\documents and settings\user i have the following folders - cookies, desktop, my documents, windows, start menu, favourites, user data. Nothing about local settings temp internet files
That's not right is it?

local settings is a hidden folder. you need to go into your folder options and choose to make hidden folders and file visable. do that by oppening my computer, then ckicling on tools, and folder options at the bottom there. the list will come up, and scroll down till you see the hidden folders option. after you make that change you should be able to see the local settings folder.
