cd writer problem

I downloaded a driver for my cd writer LG GCE-8525B because it didn't work after I upgraded my OS to windows 2000 from windows 98. However, after I installed the driver, my system did not detect the CD writer. I already disconnected and reconnected my CD writer to the motherboard but it still doesn't work.

Can anyone help me on this? Thanks!

you may want to check that your ASPI layer is installed correctly after the upgrade. you can get that from adaptec's site.

does the cd drive show up in device manager at all?
