Connecting Boston Speakers to new Dell

I just purchased a Dell 8400 and wanted to use my Boston speaker system from my old computer with my new computer. It is a Boston BA735.

My new computer has a SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio sound card. When I plug up my Boston Speakers, I do not hear anything. I have tried every place that even looks like a speaker jack. I checked power, volume, etc and it still does not work. Any ideas out there? Bill

check device manager under spund, video and game controllers, and see if you have a question mark in that category. if not, check to see if your sound card is present.

on the back panel of your computer's case, is there more than 1 set of audio input/output ports? if so, check to see which one you are plugging in to, as this computer may have a pci card and onboard sound with only one device installed and working properly.
