Can I use a USB

Can I use a USB cable and the file and settings transfer wizard,On a xp computer to transfer file from a old 98 computer?Or do I need a serial cable?

you can use a parallel cable or a firewire cable, or even a crossover cable attached to the 2 ethernet cards on each machine (if they both have one).

with serial, you would need some kind of a communication device between them, same with the USB cable.

Thanks.Turns out the old pc has no ethernet card so I have to use my USB pen drive.

Might be a stupid question did it w/ a 98 and 95 machine but will the ntfs filesystem of XP recognize the 98 fat32 file system if you were just to add the old hard drive to the new computer. Like i said i did it recently to a 98 and 95 system and 98 can use and read all the files of the 95.

Yes windows XP will recognize fat32.When you format the drive before install of XP it will ask if you would like to use fat32 or ntfs.
