It never ends. My teacher sends me a file that has the ext dat. You would think by now people would use basicly the commom stuff. What the heck is a dat file. The teacher is not good at computors so I dont think she knows what she sent me. But I would like to open the file. How?

chances are it's a word doc, but your techer sent the backup file instead of the document.

this is a complete guess on my part. first thing i always do with a wierd extension is open it with note pad and see if it has text in it or a bunch of wierd characters. usually if it is a proprietary file format it will have a plaintext description of the file tupe at the very beginning of the file even if the rest is giberish.

That makes sence! Because she said it was made in word. Anyway she cut and pasted it to the mail instead of an attachment. Conclusion is that I just learned somthing. Thanks
