NVidia GeForce4 MX 440 Card Issues

Windows XP Pro
NViidia GeForce4 MX 440
AMD Athlon XP 1900 1.6 Gig
512 RAM
Biostar Board

Sometimes when i power up the computer my monitor screen will stay in hibernate like its not getting signal, so listening for when windows stops loading i have to shut down and go slide the video card out and then back in. Usually it will boot up no problem. For whatever reason its like its not in PCI slot very tight. Well updating from microsoft, it says must restart. Well it shuts down and then they monitor stays black again. It was just working and now its not. Any sugestions??

incorrect output...?

I've had slighly similar problems with my GeForce4 MX440 -
it ended up being a wrong config of the driver and the desktop manager, and it sent the signal to the TV out, not the VGA.
Check in nView and the Windows device manager, which one is the default monitor, and that non of the others are disabled.

This may or may not be the thing... but the symptoms sounded similar...

2 display adapters listed, the onboard and the card.
Disabled the onboard still does it. Didn't see anything in the Nview.

yes, the onboard video should be disabled, the monitors section of the device manager is the one i meant.
If you have more than one in there (i have 1x plug & play and 2x default), make sure they are all enabled...

And get the newest nVIDIA drivers (66.93 i think). - that nView has a multiple monitor management section - where the info shows up.

Try connecting it to a TV using the TV out port - if it does the error, WinXP will show up on the TV as primary, but your monitor will be blank. Then you can use nView to config it properly.

Ok updated drivers and it did it once, i hooked my tv up to it and played around w/ that a little bit pretty cool. Rebooted it twice now and pops up maybe just a driver issue not sure yet. Will post if happens again but thanks for the info. I bought the complete system used for 70$ so i don't have any documention on anything.

Did it again, maybe its just my case. It "flexes". Not very sturdy.
