Amana Motor/Pump-smoke
I have an Amana top-loading washer, model LWC50AW. The pump was leaking so I put in a new Amana pump, at the same time I saw that the belt was pretty tough so I went to the hardware store and got a new belt too.
Now when the machine starts to spin and pump, the motor evidently heats up quickly as it smoked the first few times I tried to put it into the spin cycle, and then the thermal switch kicks out. The switch will re-set and repeat the whole action.
The unit will agitate OK. The belt doesn't seem to be too tight or loose because it doesn't seem to slip or squeal. The motor seems to be able to spin the pump fine off of the unit plus the new pump seems to mount a little further away from the motor (its a direct drive pump) and I don't think that there is excessive end loading on the motor.
Any ideas or suggestions?
