Systems Worm/Padobot.V ??

Hi,
it seems that I got hit with this virus. Never heard of it....
I've been running AVG Antivirus (free version) but have not updated it for a week and promptly got hit.
AVG was able to "heal" one of the files but I can't seem to open the other 2 files.
They are:
C:\Windows\System32\Config\systemprofile\LocalSett ings\
TemporaryInternetFiles\Content.IE 5\3SBIBPGE\x.exe
It's .exe 1 and 2.

I can't even log on to AVG (message: can't connect even tho I'm connected to the Internet).

Has anybody heard of this worm ????? I can't find it on Microsoft's virus site.

Any suggestions?????????????

Thanks in advance for any thoughts you have on this subject.
BTW, I'm running WinXP Home and my browser is Firefox 1.0

Had the same problem and I have AGV antivirus aswell. Check www.free.grisoft.com, this is an update site for AGV, go to "I need help" at left, then go to "virus encyclopedia" type in "Padobot", that will give you info on the virus, apparently it is also called Worm.korgo.
Check out www.pandasoftware.com, thay have a free online virus scan that is helpful, virus info in the top tab, and other helpful stuff on their webpage. Also, housecall.trendmicro.com is another free online scan.
When you scan your pc turn off your system restore and reboot in safe mode, then run your scan. some programs will not run in safe mode, I found on my computr that AGV is one of them, so if it doesn't work for you, scan with another program. I use Spybot, Zonelab, And Lavasoft adware, each one does something alittle different.
The reason for turning off your system restore and scanning in safe mode is that some viruses can hide in way in the background.
I would recommend keeping your system restore off, but, and its a BIG BUT, everytime you download anything from the web, turn on the restore point, that way you have a restore point if downloads cause problems and removing them doesn't help.
Another free antivirus is www.avast.com, if I remember correctly , there are some viruses they don't fix.

Hope this is helpful

Misc Padobot worm

Thanks for your help, toady.
In the meantime I have found a fix for the (Korgo) Padobot worm on the Symantec Website.
Have treated it the way you suggested and everything is ok now.
I appreciate your help very much! Ann

No problem, glad you were able to solve it.
If you ever have trouble with any virus again you can always do a search in Google, Yahoo or search engine of your choice. Just type in the name of the virus.
