Systems lost power while surfing web

While surfing the web my machine suddenly lost power and shut down. When I press the power-on switch nothing happens. No fan is running. There is no power switch light. Checked all connections from the power supply and they appear ok. Only indication of power on the mother board is a small yellowish led near where the 3.5in floppy cable connects to the mob. Removing the power cord from the ac outlet causes this led to go off and connecting back the power cord brings on the led again. About an hour after power loss there was a double beep coming form my pc about every 3 minutes. This stopped after about half hour. Nothing appears on the monitor and the monitor power indicator light is on. mob is gigabyte ga-7dx+. Built my system over 2 years now and first time i'm having a power problem. Posting from a borrowed machine. Had installed a motorola software the previous day. This software allowed me to access the internet via my motorola cell phone. Don't know if this is related to my loss of power.
Appreciate your help.

Re-set the cmos jumper with the power cord removed , if that does not fix it , check your cpu fan , maybe the cpu got too hot .
Does "sound" like your power supply might have gone bad .

I did some checks and it seems that my power supply needs replacing. Want to purchase a PC-Power-and-Cooling 'Silencer 360 ATX' power supply. The faulty psu (CODEGEN 350 watts) has a white lead that carries -5v whereas the 'Silencer 360 ATX' (360 watts) does not have a white lead nor does it carry -5 volts.
Wondering if this new psu will work with my gigabyte ga_7dx+ motherboard.
