Hello eveyone,
I have a stumper for you gurus. I have just put new 60GB hd in one of my clients computers, installed Windows XP home SP2, and have Yahoo! as my home page. Everything works fine except for my Yahoo home page. When I click on my internet explorer from the quick launch, the home page comes up blank. It says it's "Done" at the bottom, but the title bar has the url on it when it should just say Yahoo!-Microsoft Internet Explorer on it. The correct url,
http://www.yahoo.com, is displayed in the address bar, but the screen is still blank, until I click refresh, then it comes up. If I set my home page to any other home page, it comes right up first try. Then it gets even spookier. From the "other homepage" say MSN, if I type in the URL "www.yahoo.com", Yahoo will come up first try, but if I close my browser, open up MSN again, type in yahoo's url in the address bar, the page comes up blank and this time the title bar still has MSN's url on it, and Yahoo's url in the address bar. If I hit refresh, then Yahoo's hompage comes up. This is quite maddening and Microsoft is saying that it is on yahoo's end as it does not happen on any of my other computers I have with yahoo as my homepage. I did a repair to IE and that did not work, I deleted my temporary internet files and cookies, I turned off my firewall and that did not work. I am at my wits end with this and she would like to keep yahoo as her homepage but if I cannot correct this I may have to change it. I challenge you to try and find a fix for this odd problem. Please repond ASAP as this is a clients computer and I need to get it back to her as soon as possible.
Thank you in advance,
Jerry
