Talk go back to win98 after installing me

I had win98 and installed ME. After installing this it said I needed dos8. I saved the win98 files when it asked me during the install. It said in case I needed to go back. I am in the dos mode now. Can some one give me some steps to take to go back and run win98? Maybe delete me? Thanks

You will have to boot into ME, open the control panel, open add/remove programs and there should be a mention of WinME there.

Been a while but im quite sure thats where it is.

We tried that but it won't let you boot into me. There has to be a way to do it from dos. Thanks anyway

There is not way to uninstall ME from a DOS prompt or from within DOS at all. You'll have to go through Add/Remove Programs.

If that doesn't work, you'll have to do a clean install. It's 98SE/ME, you might as well do that anyway.

In the post W95 O/S days that would not usually work, not sure of the reason. 50% of the time got a himem error. Dont see how it would help in this case. In any case you would have to browse to the windows subdirectory first anyway.

Uninstalling from a Command Prompt:

If you cannot start Windows Me but you can start your computer to a command prompt, use these steps to uninstall Windows Me:

Start your computer with the Windows Me Startup disk that you created during Windows Me Setup. If you do not have a Windows Me Startup disk, you can use a Startup disk that was created on any other Windows Me-based computer. To create a Windows Me Startup disk, use any other Windows Me-based computer to follow the instructions in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
267287 How to Create a Startup Disk in Windows Me

At the Microsoft Windows Millennium Startup menu, choose the Minimal Boot option, and then press ENTER.
At the command prompt, type c: and then press ENTER.
Type cd windows\command and then press ENTER.
Type uninstal.exe and then press ENTER.
You receive several warning or confirmation prompts. For each prompt, press Y, and then press ENTER to continue. This process can take several minutes.

EDIT: If you can't make a Windows ME boot disk, you can do so from here.
