ray1005 is on a distinguished road

i was told i have to disable my onboard shipset in Bios to gt my new video card to work properly, no one explained this to me, any help would be appreciated greatly

it will either be in bold white letters on the board itself, or else you can tell us what exact make and model computer it is in now.

THis may or may not work ...

Go to control panel click on system then click on the hardware tab then click on device manager. At the bottom of the list u might see system devices expand that and look for something that resembles a motherboard Hope that helps (i am 12)

johnnyis42 is on a distinguished road
when you're looking at the system devices, you'll be able to find out the chipset your motherboard uses.

the dead giveaway devices are usually the pci bridge and the processor to ACP controller. the model number and manufacturer name associated with those will most likely tell you what chipset your motherboard is.

however, it still won't tell you the exact brand of motherboard you have, but it will help narrow it down.

if i knew different names of motherboards i may know off hand what i have, but when it comes to comps im more or less computer illiterate in the mean time i have a HP 531w (windows xp, if needed)

when i was browsing through my device manager i came across the display adaptors, it says my intel 82810E graphics controller is enabled? does that mean my other one is installed right? or do i still have to disable it?
