nview.dll error Is Related to Nvidia Drivers You can uninstall your current drivers. then clean your registry and delete all instances of nvidia and drivers installed If ya understand how to do this otherwise(forget the registry thing) then reinstall the drivers if this does not help i usually just msconfig it away by unselecting this item in startup unless you use nview otherwise this usually fixs any startup problems but the guys here one the forums may even have a better suggestion.

no, that pretty much covers it. nview dll errors are pretty common especially since most people don't ever use the nview features int he drivers, yet the install always puts nview in the run on startup group.

go ahead and take the run32.dll instance in msconfig startup out, as well as any other startup nvidia stuff, making sure not to kill anything with nv in it that actually refers to norton antivirue (if you don't use norton for antivirus, then you don't have to worry about that).

i would advise against removing instances of nvidia from the registry because by default windows has nvidia driver support and you may end up making some undesired changes.

if you're interested, the guru3d web site has some good utilities for totally cleanning out instances of nvidia drivers. it's a good thing to use when you're updating from older driver versions, rather than installing over the top of older drivers.

Thanks for letting me know something, although I did not really understand everything, I do know how to misconfig- and work in the start up there. I guess I might just have it not start up. i will think about it first, what is the n view. dll for anyways?
I wonder why it just started popping up, I did recently install or have installed a cable modem?
thanks.cherie L.

the nview feature is almost an aplication all by itself that is installed with nvidia graphics drivers. it is primarily used for desktop management, and is a pretty feature rich aplication.

if you've ever heard people speak of the linux/unix feature of having multiple desktop environments available to you at the click of a button, nview does that for windows. multimonitor management that surpasses that of the default windows multimonitor features also come in to play, things such as streatching your desktop rather than merely extending it to another monitor.

what i always thought was the coolest feature was that nview added a "send window to" option on every drop down right click menu, so if you had an aplication that didn't play correctly with multimonitor (i have this problem with sygate firewall) and when you either change your desktop layout with multimonitor or for some reason disable the second monitor, and the aplication window was last opened in an area on your desktop that no longer exists and now you can't drag it back to your existing desktop, nview allows you to right click the aplication int he task bar and then send the window to another display that does exist.

anyhow, the point is you don't need nview to start up with windows unless you are using those features, and you would know if you were because you would have had to run the nview configuration wizard at some point to begin using them.
