GEForce 256 vertical lines

I came home a few weeks ago to find my computer display flickering and covered in shaded vertical lines. I thought I had some serious screen burn or that my old CRT had just bought the farm.

Well I bought a new lcd monitor and guess what -- same problem. I went through all the direct X display and display adapter troubleshooting. I reinstalled both the hardware and drivers for nvidia to no avail.

So I am narrowing the problem down to the physical video card. I was hoping someone could confirm that this could be the problem before I go spend more money for no reason.

At least reassure me that installing a new card will fix whatever it may be , or perhaps just point me in the right direction.

PS: If I do need a new one could someone recommend a good one?

Yes To Me it sounds like your Video Card is going i recently Had the same Problem with my geforce 2 Card Day later it went bad i'm guessing the card overheated from being run all the time thats what happened to mine so i think the memory on video card or the video card Cpu did so it's probably definite will need to be replaced not sure but you can buy the standard 6800 now for about 300 Dollars now which is still a beast of a card other then that not sure how much your wanting to spend on a card don't have a really good advice good luck hope things improve.
