system restore

we have a HP XE783 (ME) with 512mb memory..problems, everytime we try to run something a prompt says"not enough memory", can I use system recovery disc from HP a305w (XP) ?

It sounds like you are running your system resources down by having to many programs running in the background. Open the task box by hitting control, alt del and see how many things are listed there. Post back with the #.
HP is bad about loading their machines up with tons of garbage and then it bogs down the machine.

Elroy thanks for the quick reply....there are "21" listed in the Task window. What they are I don't know.

Gaming It's probably adware, scumware..etc

If the system has been connected to a broadband internet connection without a firewall, antivirus, and anti-adware defense it's probably heavily infect. The average amount of stuff that an unprotected system receives is about 15-20 pieces of this kind of software. Restore your system and load a firewall software like zonealarm, a antivirus software and anti-adware package ASAP. Uninstall and delete all the crap HP puts on that you don't require.

i recommend reg cleaner if you can find it and spybot search and destroy. With regclean you can actually cut your startup list down to just the necessary files that windows needs to load.
