Systems VIDEO and USB sharing !

I'm having a serious problem with IRQ's of the USB and video
but ins't conflict, ! it's a sharing.
i have installed recently 2 connectors for
my onboard USB ports.
it's will be used for my HP laserjet 1010 printer,
that's use only this port. I tried to install it, but
the installation program doesn't detect it, just
because of this sharing. I guess.
When i installed the drivers, the IRQ for
these ports is 11, the same of the VGA Card !!!
and i'm unable to modify the IRQ for this
ports.
i already removed the other devices : video(not the windows default),
sound, modem and ethernet to test if the assignment of USB is modified
but even it's is installed in first place
its maintened the IRQ 11 !
I will not remove the default(windows) VGA card because... how i
will see the video without this device ?
my bios is award 4.51pg(from the 1999 year) and its don't have
a option to manually config each IRQ address, and the
"PCI/PNP IRQ Resource Exclusion" is inexistent.
the only avaliable options is:

- change the values of IRQ to "Legacy ISA" or "PnP PCI/ISA";
- only change the IRQ's is : Serial and Parallel ports;
- a auto asign IRQ to USB;
- a auto asign IRQ to VGA;

i have intended to reserve the irq 11 from windows but
dismissed because of a possible video freeze.
i don't have the intend to install windows 98 again.

i already tried to disable the auto asign to USB, but i unable
to asign the IRQ for it from windows !
with the auto asign enabled the IRQ is always 11.
the same of the VGA card.

How i disable this $#%!@ IRQ sharing ? it's possible ?
it's needed to update my bios ?

Note: my free IRQ's is 3 and 9. and my windows is 98 (isn't SE).
my motherboard is M585LMR.

Please, i need urgent help !

thanks for any attention !

First Step

Hi

Look, to begin with, the motherboard will often share many of the IRQs out and even though it looks like that might be the problem, it probably isnt.

If the printer is not working right, it is probably something else. For example, HP usb drivers often need to be installed prior to connecting the printer. I cant remember whether this is the case with 1010...but check that first.

Then you need to check and see what USB port it is...is it the fixed rear port or is it the optional front port? If it is the front one...is it installed right?

etc etc

fiddling with the IRQ is pretty rare these days...the last time I had to do it...was an old Asus board that had a bit of a hard time with legacy IRQ5 sound blaster requirements.

Other than that I never had a problem.

Look at other things first...you will spend a long time with IRQs they can be very difficult.

=======

If you do need to change the IRQs, I am not sure how you should do it.
